Don’t you just love budgeting and hearing about all the changes you need to make? I mean, doesn’t it just inspire you to change everything and never go out to eat again? Riiiight… yeah, me neither.
It sounds a little odd to say I am learning how to have deep and valuable relationships from business principles, but hear me out on this one.
I was supposed to write this blog about chore time management, but the night was so lovely, I just couldn’t. I began to feel a pressure between my to-do list and the chance to enjoy the wind in my hair.
Remember that we are learning to refocus and find balance in all areas of life. Last week, we talk about finances (click here to read my budgeting ideas for a varying income). As I started to write this, I realized I have no idea why I decided to pursue this niche at this season in our lives.
Trauma? Medical challenges? A move? A relationship loss? A career shift? A new baby? Yes, we just had our first born baby by C-section, and we are incredibly happy and blessed. However, parenting is also creating stress for both of us as we try to figure this all out. Really, any change will create stress on the brain. No matter what the situation is that is creating the stressors, we always need a plan to keep moving forward.
Valentine’s Day might be my favorite holiday. I love the cheesy hearts and forced signs of affection. I love that the stores are overflowing with flowers and one of those $20 bunches may end up on my dining room table. I have also learned to be very comfortable with buying my own flowers (since I am the one who loves them so much), besides what I REALLY LOVE from my husband on Valentine’s Day (or for any date) is creativity, a date made just for me because he knows it is a unique idea or activity that we will love. See, the doctors call it uncontrolled, brittle, difficult, unpredictable, confusing and they feel sorry for me because I am trying so hard. I tell my husband it is tiring, exhausting, makes me feel lost, depressed and exhausted, it seems like a full time job. You can call it Type 1 Diabetes with super high risk pregnancy. The pregnancy has gone pretty well, up until 3 weeks ago. Now, at 7 months pregnant, I have had 2 hospital visits in the last 3 weeks, daily struggles to control my diabetes and am now only able to work about 2 days a week, if that much! And it is all due to having a chronic disease that doesn’t play by the rules.
It’s time for a little confession. Okay, here it goes – my budgeting (and especially my spending) was sorta off-balance during the holidays.
