I was supposed to write this blog about chore time management, but the night was so lovely, I just couldn’t. I began to feel a pressure between my to-do list and the chance to enjoy the wind in my hair.
Trauma? Medical challenges? A move? A relationship loss? A career shift? A new baby? Yes, we just had our first born baby by C-section, and we are incredibly happy and blessed. However, parenting is also creating stress for both of us as we try to figure this all out. Really, any change will create stress on the brain. No matter what the situation is that is creating the stressors, we always need a plan to keep moving forward.
What do you do when your situation forces you to take up a side income job? What if you don’t have the time to plan it like you wanted or have the means to dream big? This is where we found ourselves at for the last few weeks…
See, the doctors call it uncontrolled, brittle, difficult, unpredictable, confusing and they feel sorry for me because I am trying so hard. I tell my husband it is tiring, exhausting, makes me feel lost, depressed and exhausted, it seems like a full time job. You can call it Type 1 Diabetes with super high risk pregnancy. The pregnancy has gone pretty well, up until 3 weeks ago. Now, at 7 months pregnant, I have had 2 hospital visits in the last 3 weeks, daily struggles to control my diabetes and am now only able to work about 2 days a week, if that much! And it is all due to having a chronic disease that doesn’t play by the rules.
As mentioned in my previous post, it is the time of year where most of us are feeling stressed with money and needing an extra little bit of side income. Since my husband and I have worked 40+ freelancing and gig type jobs, I am listing the best of the best that we have worked with.

As we continue on our financial journey, I felt that I should share some things I wish I had been told when I was in college. College years is where most people start to pick up bad habits for their finances. If your parents didn’t set you up for success (aka – teach AND model good finances), you get out of high school and are plunged into the adult world, filled with bills, responsibility, college, stress and trying to stay afloat in all of it. And, so you try, kudos to you for trying! But, if you are reading this, you probably in need of some tips.

Everyone has something they want to be known by or to known for. It can be a personality trait, a health goal, how popular they are, the atmosphere they give off, or a career objective. If your objective, your deepest, truest goal, is your focus, you will began to aspire, to grow it to the point where people around you will see it and help you move toward your goal and your reputation will began to change too.
How I managed to have this much clutter in my kitchen, I will never know. And I didn’t get through the dishes/utensils. What I worked through was the food cabinet, the spice cabinet, the tea cabinet, the coffee cup cabinet and the 3 cabinets that are basically kitchen junk cabinets. 4 bags of trash. 4 bags of wasted space. 4 bags of unneeded stuff. I always felt I should make elaborate meals. And then… I would get so stressed and upset when Henry wouldn’t eat them. I grew up eating 3 sit-down meals a day, 3 complete meals with protein, starch/carbohydrates and vegetables. Sometimes a dessert and fruit too. So, this is how I tried to handle food in our house for 2 years. HOWEVER, I stressed so much over how I ‘should’ be cooking that I HATED cooking. HATED the kitchen. HATED shopping for us. HATED planning meals. HATED anything to do with food. I was wasting time and energy AND money trying to keep up with the cooking and planning. Who is with me on this?
Yes, you read that right…. A chore list that works and saves you time. See, I work 11 hours a day, plus have about a 40-minute commute. Run the time for that – I eat dinner around 9:30 pm and only have a few minutes to clean my house or to take care of any of the chores. A few years ago, when I was getting my master’s degree, I came up with methods to make chores, cooking and house responsibilities less time consuming and easier to deal with.
As a new direction for my blog, we are starting to talk about simplifying our lives. So, this week, in connection with a Facebook event I am doing, we are talking about ways to simplify our health. I am not a gym person, I get really intimidated by it! Seriously, like, curled up in a ball in the corner, completely overwhelmed by seeing so many gym enthusiast in one location. All I am trying to do is take little steps, and I don’t want to feel that my little efforts are not enough. Is anyone else like this or am I the only one? BUT, here’s the the thing – I do know that my health is important to decreasing stress and maintaining focus. So how do I keep a calm mindset about my health?
